Right from time immemorial, humans had the strange dream to visit Moon, the only natural satellite of the Earth. The desire to go to moon was however successful when Neil Armstrong became the first man to land on it. But this is not the end of the whole story. Men want to visit Moon and stay there just like they are in their own planet Earth. The happy news is that this wild dream of humans can be made possible, according to NASA Scientists. As per the NASA Scientists, if a base is built n Moon, they will be able to accommodate 10 astronauts for more than a year. According to them, the technology of the day is so advanced that this can be made possible at any time.
Christ McKay, the NASA astrobiologist says that his interest is not completely on Moon. For him it “is as dull as a ball of concrete.” According to him, a research base on Mars can be made possible only if one such is constructed on the Moon on the first hand. He says that “The Moon provides a blueprint to Mars.”
Earlier plans were a fail according to him, due to the reason that those were very much expensive. McKay says that space programs cannot have a definite budget, and the unlimited budget is the reason why most of them do not come into pass.
Humans will be able to live on Moon in short stays by a small group. Soon the moon will become a permanent human hub. Years later, men will be able to dwell on moon with their families and make their permanent abode.
Dennis Wingo, from spacecraft manufacturer SkyCorp says that so as to set up human colonies on moon, the materials for construction will be taken from the lunar soil and meteors. With the help of 3D Printing Technologies, structures will be robotically created with the help of lunar soil. The broken components will be substituted by printing that will help in saving the requirement to launch spares to the moon. Apart from this, inflatable habitats will be made use of on Moon so as to accommodate astronauts. The Peary Crater could be the best area for building the first lunar base, according to Wingo. This is adjacent to the North Pole of the Moon. The reason why this area is chosen is because it is flat and has a good amount of sunlight. This part of moon is also rich in minerals.
