According to China’s NextEV, the super car that they are manufacturing, the NIO EP9 could be the fastest electric car in the world. The statement was made while unveiling its new NIO brand of electric cars at London. The all new NIO EP9 has 1,360 hp. This helps the car that is at rest to reach 160 mph in just about 7.1 seconds. The top speed of this very supercar is 194 mph (313 kph). It has an interchangeable battery system. The car is should be charged in 45 minutes and it can reach up to 265 miles (427 kilometers). This supercar will be on sale in China the coming year and soon the whole world will be able to taste its speed. The company has not yet revealed the price of NIO EP9.
NextEV owns a Formula E team, and the manufacturers say that its electric supercar was able to get a new lap record at the Nurburgring Nordschleife race track, which is a legendary German race track where the speed of the supercar is being counted. According to NextEV, “With 1.360 hp, the supercar matches the performance of top hybrid supercars, such as LaFerrari and McLaren P1.”The supercar was launched at the Saatchi Gallery in Kings Road, London.
The design of EP9 is extremely catchy. It has hulking wheels, sharp face studded with headlights and a sleek body. NextEV has been backed in this very venture by many investors including Temasek, Sequoia Capital, Tencent, TPG, Lenovo and more. NextEV has applied for an Autonomous Vehicle Testing Permit from California DMV in October for starting the testing for self driving cars on public roads. The company says that the new super car will have an “integrated e-control structure and sensor system layout” which will ultimately accommodate autonomous driving technology.
